[44] To be valid, a guilty plea must be voluntary, unequivocal, and informed: R. v. R.T. (1992), 1992 CanLII 2834 (ON CA), 10 O.R. (3d) 514 (C.A.), at para. 14. The appellant does not take issue with the first two prongs of this test.
[45] To be informed, the accused must be aware of the nature of the allegations and the effect and consequences of the plea: R.T., at para. 14; see also R. v. Quick, 2016 ONCA 95, 129 O.R. (3d) 334.
